Finally drove highway #1 right along the coast, and it was a wow, the whole way. See the pic of the road on our GPS, just a few turns and twists! Lots of places with no guard rails, one spot Ralph stopped to take a picture, there was about 4” of dirt, from the edge of the pavement, then nothing for. 1000ft. On one of the hairpin turns we met a huge tractor trailer coming around the corner—on our side of the road. He quickly turned to his own side but we are sure his back wheel went up the hillside on the inside corner—it was all over so fast, didn’t even have time to be scared!! Stopped to see the elephant seals, hundreds of them lying on the beach. Can’t write a whole story, but is you google them, it’s all very interesting. The big males can obtain 5000 lbs.
